Developing Christian Character (Part 2)

August 17, 2025 |
| Tunde Kikiowo

The minister continues on Building Christian Character, emphasizing God’s transformative work in believers. True character development is founded on God giving us a new heart and spirit and enabling us to walk in His ways (Ezekiel 36:24-30).

🌱 Transformation: God’s Way
God calls for a renewed mind, a new heart, and flexible thinking being open to change and living out God’s pattern, not our own (Romans 12:1-2Isaiah 55:8). Character growth requires letting go of rigidity and pursuing God’s higher ways, allowing the Holy Spirit to shape us (Matthew 9:17Psalm 103:7).

💖 Brotherly Kindness and Love
Peter’s model for Christian character includes brotherly kindness and love (2 Peter 1:5–7). Brotherly kindness means intentional, genuine love for the family of believers (Romans 12:10John 13:34). Love is the most important virtue, greater than any spiritual gift, pure, sacrificial, and seeking the highest good for others (1 Corinthians 13:1-31 John 4:8).

🌟 Agape Love: The Hallmark of Christian Character
Agape love is intentional, faithful, and sacrificial which requires the help of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It is patient, kind, humble, forgiving, and always seeks the good in others (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Love opens your heart to God’s voice and keeps you in the light (1 John 2:10), inspiring creativity and innovation.

🕊 Faith, Love, and Light
Faith works through love (Galatians 5:6). Walking in love dispels offence and darkness, bringing clarity, peace, and the power to overcome challenges (Job 29:2-3).

💡Christian character is marked by intentional love, brotherly kindness, and openness to God’s transforming power. Let your heart reflect Christ daily, making love your greatest testimony!
