The Holy Spirit and the Believer

April 27, 2025 |
| Tunde Kikiowo

This sermon covers the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in every Christian’s life. It focuses on the following key points:

🔥 The Promise of the Holy Spirit: Jesus assured us in John 14:16-18 that the Holy Spirit-our Helper, Advocate, Comforter, and Intercessor-would dwell with us forever, ensuring we are never alone.

🤝 The Spirit’s Role in the Believer:

  • Helper & Comforter: The Holy Spirit provides peace, strength, and guidance through every season, bringing assurance even in trials.

  • Advocate & Intercessor: He intercedes for us when we don’t know what to pray, aligning our prayers with God’s will (Romans 8:26-27).

  • Teacher & Guide: The Spirit illuminates Scripture, teaches us God’s truth, and reminds us of Jesus’ words (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13)

  • Empowerer: He equips us with spiritual gifts and power to fulfil our calling and witness for Christ (Acts 1:8).

🕊️ Personal Relationship: The Holy Spirit is not an “it” but a Person-He speaks, can be grieved, and desires fellowship with us (2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:30). Our daily walk and victory depend on this intimate relationship.

👑 Sonship & Authority: The Spirit affirms our identity as children of God and heirs with Christ (Romans 8:14-17). Through Him, we manifest our sonship, spiritual authority, and live a victorious life.

🌱 Living a Fulfilled Life: Every aspect of Christian living-spiritual, emotional, social, and practical-begins and ends with the Holy Spirit. He is our source of help, counsel, and power for exploits.

💡Depend on the Holy Spirit in every area of your life. Welcome His presence daily, and you will experience transformation, fruitfulness, and the fullness of your sonship in Christ. “till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.” (Isaiah 32:15).
